Obituary for Vallie Agnes White Davis

Vallie Agnes White Davis, 93, a resident of Elkins, went to her heavenly home Monday, May 27, 2019, at Davis Medical Center following a short illness.

Vallie was born Monday, May 24, 1926, in Tucker County, a daughter of the late John White and Agnes Jordan White. She was the last member of her immediate family. Vallie was thrice married. First to Roy Conley White, then to Carlton Curtis, and then to Hollie Davis, all of whom preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Linda Sanders and husband George, and Barbara Shockey, all of Elkins, three grandchildren, Sabrina Talkington and husband Dariel, Byran Shockey and wife Kathy, and Stephanie Coberly and husband Michael, two great-granddaughters, Amanda Taylor and husband Rodney, and Sierra Shockey and companion Matthew Metz, one great-great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Aviana Taylor, two stepchildren, Larry Davis and Ruthann Shipp, several nieces and nephews, her precious cat, Baby, and a host of friends.

Besides her parent and husbands, she was preceded in death by one infant son, Charles Roy White, two granddaughters, Valerie and Tonya Shockey, son in law, Thomas Shockey, a special niece that she helped raise, Helen Abbott, and twelve siblings, Bill, Charlie, Harry, Gordon, Elsie, Ruby, Mona, Lora, Katie, Geneva, Lucille, and Marie.

Vallie attended the schools of Randolph County and retired from Davis and Elkins College after many years of service. Vallie loved to take care of her own home and mow her yard until she could no longer do so. She was a member of the Elkins Church of God and Family Worship Center and loved to attend church when she was able. Vallie was a life-long resident of Elkins except for a few years in Clay County.

Visitation will be held at the Elkins Church of God on Wednesday from 6 pm until 8 pm. A funeral service will be conducted at the church on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at 1:00 pm. Bishop Jamie Estep will officiate and interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman.
