Obituary for Kirstie Leigh Hammonds

Kirstie Leigh Hammonds, 41, a resident of Belington, passed from this life Sunday, June 30, 2019, at home.

Kirstie was born Tuesday, January 3, 1978, in Elkins, a daughter of the late Gerald Hammonds and Karen Sue McClanahan Hammonds. At the age of 2, Kirstie was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and was became disabled. She never married

Left to cherish her memory are six siblings, Gerald Lynn Hammonds, Randall Hammonds, Carmen Long and fiancé Leonard Nielsen with whom she made her home for the past twenty-four years, Jeffrey Hammonds, Kimberly Catt and husband Brad, and Christopher Hammonds and companion Tina Gum, and fifteen nieces and nephews, Breanna, Sarah, Amber, McKenna, Tiffany A., Kayla, Stefnie, Tiffany H., April, Joshua, Adam, Randall, Brycen, Cole, and Ethan.

Kirstie attended the schools of Randolph County, taking life skills classes at Elkins High School and receiving a diploma. She enjoyed her doll babies, coloring, and listening to music.

The family’s request for cremation was honored. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at 11:00 am in Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville and interment will follow.
