Obituary for Donald Lee Ryan II

Donald Lee “Tank” Ryan II, 62, a resident of Elkins passed from this life Thursday, July 11, 2019, at home. Although he had been in declining health, death was unexpected.

Tank was born Sunday, May 3, 1957, in Elkins, a son of the late Donald Lee Ryan and Delores Jean Poling Ryan. On April 1, 1993, in Akron, OH, he married the former Cathy Jo Terwilliger who survives.

Also left to cherish his memory are three children, Geri Homan and husband John, Brent Swain and wife Sandy, and Kevin Ware and wife Cynthia, five grandchildren, Justin, Haley, Hanna, Alexis, and Tallie, five great-grandchildren, Hallie, Lane, Everette, Scarlette, and Paige, two brothers, Rich Ryan and fiancé Celeste, and Charles Ryan, special aunt Liz “Ed” Wymer and husband Tom, nephews and niece, Josh, Donovan, Nathan, Kylee, and several others, and his fur child Buddy.

Preceding Tank in death besides his parents were his paternal grandparents that helped raised him, A.J. and Iva Ryan.

Tank attended the schools of Randolph County and obtained his GED. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Tank had worked as a chef for several different people and establishments throughout Ohio. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had a passion for whittling and wood carving and made amazing pieces.

Tank’s request for cremation will be honored and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
